Frida Libre is a bilingual musical play for young audiences inspired by the childhood of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. 

Alex (a shy kid who wants to be a luchador) and Frida (a bold girl who dreams of becoming a doctor) are paired together for a science project about metamorphosis. Through their unlikely friendship, they learn to overcome fears and achieve their biggest dreams. 

Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 4pm, & Sundays at 2pm

Frida Kahlo

Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) is remembered for her self-portraits, pain and passion, and bold, vibrant colors. She is celebrated in Mexico for her attention to Mexican and indigenous culture and by feminists for her depiction of the female experience and form.

Luchador Libre (Wrestling)

Luchador Libre, popular in Mexico and other Latin American countries, is a vibrant and colorful form of professional wrestling known for its high-flying acrobatics and theatrical performances. Rooted in tradition and rich in culture, luchador wrestling has captivated audiences worldwide with its unique blend of athleticism and entertainment.

Meet the Cast


Flor Mojica as Frida
Flor is thrilled to make her lead role debut in a musical with Fonseca Theatre Company. Frida Libre marks her third performance in a Frida-inspired musical. She has previously performed in the ensemble of La Casa Azul The Musical, a musical centered around the life of Frida Kahlo. She then had the honor of portraying Young Frida (child and teenage) years later. Coming back to Frida feels really special and meant to be. Other works she’s been a part of include Shrek, Catch Me If You Can, Sister Act, and Aladdin the Musical. She also has TV and film credits, including a short film and many commercials! She would like to thank Chandra Lynch, Jim Carringer, and anyone who has ever supported and encouraged her artistic journey. She hopes you all enjoy this colorful moment in time! 


Abner Torres Delina, Jr. as Alex 
Abner loves art, nature and children. He portrayed lead roles in critically-acclaimed Filipino productions, hosted the award-winning Batibot children’s TV show, starred in international films (Cannes, SXSW, TIFF), directed BALANGAW children’s arts festival (CCP), served as director for Journey Home (IndyFringe) and dramaturg for Tiger Style! (Fonseca), among others. As BLACK CANVAS collective founder, his community-centered artistic projects received grants and recognition across Asia, USA, and beyond. Abner is a Georgetown University’s Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics fellow, Asian Cultural Council alumnus, and ITAC IMPACT: Climate Teaching Artist. For over two decades, he has trained thousands of students, teachers, and leaders through arts education, arts therapy, and climate-action programs in the Philippines. Holding an M.A. Arts and Cultural Leadership from University of the Arts Singapore, he is now based in Indianapolis and remains committed to collaborate on programs that nurture  a caring, connected, and colorful world for everyone.


Cara Wilson as Frida Libre & Others
Cara was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is a film and theatre graduate from Goshen College. She has worked in theatres around Indianapolis such as Indiana Repertory Theatre, Phoenix Theatre, Storefront Theatre, Indy Fringe, The District Theatre, Fonseca Theatre Company, NAATC, IBTC, and New Harmony Playfest. Cara has been in plays like Panther Women, Pride and Prejudice, Your Love Will Be Judged at Indy Fringe, A Skeptic and a Bruja, Judy’s Life Work, Ain’t No Mo, A Very Phoenix XMAS, and most recently Come From Away at the IRT. She is excited and honored to be apart of Frida Libre!!


Jay Fuqua as Super Luchador & Others
Jay is an Indianapolis-based actor, singer, and songwriter whose commanding stage presence has made him a standout in the city’s theatre community since 2018. His performance credits include The Wiz, Dreamgirls (Curtis Taylor Jr.), Rent, The Bodyguard, and The Color Purple. Recently, Fuqua brought audiences holiday sparkle with A Diva’s Christmas Cabaret at the Murat Theatre and premiered his solo work Death of a Church Boy at the Indy Black Solo Fest with the Indianapolis Black Theater Company. Fueled by a deep passion for storytelling and representation, Fuqua continues to captivate audiences with performances marked by power, vulnerability, and undeniable charisma.
